Elon Musk has officially departed the Trump administration after leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) for 130 days as a special government employee. Musk’s exit comes after public criticism of President Trump’s major budget proposal, which Musk argued would undermine DOGE’s cost-cutting mission. The departure was confirmed by the White House, with Trump thanking Musk at a press conference where Musk appeared with a black eye, attributed to playful roughhousing with his son. Musk stated he will now focus more on Tesla and SpaceX, while the DOGE initiative will continue within the administration.
