Elon Musk, CEO of TESLA, has announced an ambitious mega tunnel project in Dubai that promises to revolutionize transportation in the city with high-speed, driverless travel.
In a groundbreaking announcement on the final day of the World Governments Summit, tech billionaire Elon Musk revealed plans to build a futuristic underground transportation network in Dubai, known as the Dubai Loop.
Developed by The Boring Company, the project envisions a high-speed tunnel system where electric vehicles will travel autonomously at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour (160 km/h). Musk stated that the system will enable passengers to travel across Dubai in under six minutes, dramatically reducing commute times and easing surface traffic congestion.
Musk shared the stage with Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, who expressed strong support for the initiative as a step toward building the smart cities of the future. The Dubai Loop aligns with the UAE’s long-term vision to incorporate advanced technologies into public infrastructure while improving sustainability and efficiency.
The system is expected to use fully electric, autonomous pods designed for maximum safety and comfort. The tunnels will be equipped with state-of-the-art sensors, AI navigation systems, and emergency protocols to ensure reliability and public trust.
If successful, the Dubai Loop could become the first of its kind globally and set a new standard for urban mobility.
