What began as a routine dispute over a blocked driveway in a quiet residential neighborhood of Ras Al Khaimah escalated into a horrifying shooting that left three women dead and another critically injured.

The incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Monday, May 5, when a 55-year-old Yemeni man opened fire following an argument over a parking space. The victims — a 66-year-old mother and her daughters aged 36 and 38 — were killed in the brutal attack, while a fourth daughter, aged 47, sustained injuries. Authorities have confirmed the arrest of the suspect, and a full investigation is underway.

According to Maher Salem Wafai, the son and brother of the victims, the violence erupted suddenly. "My mother and four sisters were at home when the dispute began. The man grew aggressive and without any warning, he pulled out a gun and began shooting," he told Gulf News.

The tragedy unfolded in seconds. Yasmin, 38, was the first to be attacked — the suspect reportedly ran her over with his vehicle before fatally shooting her in the head. As another sister rushed to help, she too was shot. The mother and another daughter, trying to intervene, were also gunned down.

An 11-year-old boy — the son of one of the victims — witnessed the terrifying ordeal. "My sister gave her phone to her son and told him to call the police," Wafai said. "The attacker even attempted to shoot the child, but thank God, he escaped."

The shocking Ras Al Khaimah shooting has sent waves of grief and disbelief through the community and across the nation. Maher Wafai described the pain of burying three family members in just four days. "Yasmin was laid to rest after Maghrib prayers on Monday — just days after we buried our mother and sister. Our pain is beyond words," he said.

All of the women were mothers, some with large families. One of the sisters had six children, the eldest just 15 years old. "Their lives are forever changed," Wafai added.

Despite the overwhelming loss, Wafai praised the UAE’s justice system. “We’ve lived in the UAE for 20 years. It’s a country of peace and safety. What happened was an isolated act, not a reflection of Emirati values. We believe justice will prevail.”

The Ras Al Khaimah Police and local authorities are continuing their investigation into the deadly parking dispute. The case has sparked national conversations about safety, community harmony, and the importance of conflict resolution.
