Nissan Motor India has officially responded to speculation about the potential shutdown of its manufacturing operations, including its plant in India. The rumors, which suggest global cost-cutting measures, mentioned possible closures in Japan, Mexico, South Africa, Argentina, and India.

However, a Nissan India spokesperson dismissed these reports, stating:

“Nissan remains committed to its India operations, dealers, partners, and customers.” The company reaffirmed its plans to continue sales, service, and future model launches in the region.

The automaker also emphasized its upcoming product pipeline, which includes a new B-segment MPV and two new C-segment SUVs for the Indian market. Additionally, Nissan reaffirmed its “One Car, One World” strategy, continuing vehicle exports from India.

Nissan labeled the closure reports as “speculative and not based on any official company information.”

Supporting this stance, Nissan’s recent moves contradict shutdown rumors. In March 2025, the company announced that Renault Group will take full ownership of Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt Ltd (RNAIPL), acquiring Nissan’s 51% stake. Despite this, Nissan will retain production rights under a new agreement, indicating a shift toward asset-light operations, not exit.

Separately, the automaker also revealed a consolidation of its Nissan Frontier/Navara pickup production to CIVAC, Morelos, Mexico, streamlining operations without pulling out from key markets.

Nissan concluded by stating it will not provide further comments for now but remains committed to transparency and stakeholder communication.
