Colorado Funeral Director Sentenced After Keeping Woman’s Remains in Hearse for 18 Months
LITTLETON, Colo. – Former funeral home director Miles Harford has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after admitting to keeping a woman's remains in a hearse for nearly two years and providing another family with the ashes of an unidentified person.
According to the Denver District Attorney’s Office, Harford pleaded guilty in April to felony abuse of a corpse and misdemeanor theft. On June 9, 2025, he was officially sentenced for the disturbing offenses.
The investigation began on February 6, 2024, when Denver Police discovered several boxes containing cremated remains during Harford’s eviction. Among the findings was the body of Christina Rosales, which had been left in a hearse for approximately 18 months.
Authorities revealed that Harford, facing severe financial difficulties and debt, was unable to complete proper cremations. In a shocking breach of trust, he reportedly gave grieving families the cremains of unrelated individuals and claimed they were their loved ones.
Denver DA John Walsh stated, “Nothing will ever undo the terrible pain that Miles Harford caused so many families. But this sentence offers a measure of justice. Harford systematically and shockingly violated his professional and moral obligations.”
