During this internship, I had the opportunity to work on a full web development project that helped me grow both technically and professionally. My main focus was on the backend, where I used Node.js and Express.js to build and organize routes like /news, /discussions, and /topics. I learned how to set up middleware such as cors() and express.json(), handle JSON data, and serve static files from the public/ folder. This hands-on experience gave me a much clearer understanding of how backend systems work and how they communicate with the frontend.
One of the things I appreciated most was the step-by-step approach we took throughout the project. Instead of jumping into everything at once, we tackled each part carefully and methodically, which made the learning process manageable and effective. I also got to work with Figma for the first time, which was really interesting. Seeing how the frontend design is planned visually before any coding begins gave me a better perspective on how the whole website fits together.
Besides the technical side, I was also involved in writing and managing news articles for the website. Writing these articles made me appreciate the importance of clear, concise communication — especially when delivering information to a wide audience. Working with news content was a positive experience because it kept me engaged with current events and helped me improve my writing skills in a practical context.
Another important aspect of the internship was the opportunity to interact with new people and work as part of a team. Even though much of the work required independent focus, it was always nice to have support and collaboration when needed. Meeting and communicating with colleagues gave me insight into how projects come together and the value of teamwork.
Overall, this internship was a valuable experience that strengthened my backend development skills, introduced me to new tools like Figma, and gave me a better understanding of web content management. It was a good balance of learning, practical work, and teamwork, and I’m glad I had the chance to be part of it.
