As temperatures soar during the UAE summer, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is actively working to ease the heat burden on delivery riders by launching 15 new air-conditioned rest stops at major bus and metro stations across the city.

These rest areas have been established at the following bus stations: Gold Souq, Al Satwa, Al Jafiliya, and Oud Metha.

And at metro station exits:

e& (Exit 1)

Al Qusais (Exits 1 and 2)

Emirates Towers (Exit 1)

Insurance Market (Exit 2)

Centrepoint (Exit 1)

Al Furjan (Exit 1)

Business Bay (Exit 2)

DMCC (Exit 2)

ADCB (Exit 2)

BurJuman (Exit 4)

To support delivery workers further, the UAE Food Bank — in collaboration with Deliveroo — is providing 7,500 hot ready-made meals for riders at these temporary shelters.

These newly introduced temporary rest points are an addition to the 40 permanent air-conditioned facilities previously set up by RTA across key parts of the emirate.

The exterior of the shelters has been specially designed to minimize direct sunlight exposure while ensuring strong insulation that doesn’t block visibility. Inside, the shelters are equipped with water dispensers, phone charging stations, and ample parking for motorbikes, along with other features that offer comfort and help encourage adherence to road and safety regulations.

This initiative aligns with RTA’s broader mission to improve road safety, enhance quality of life, and deliver critical services to delivery workers, especially during the annual midday work ban, which forbids outdoor work from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM daily. This restriction is in effect and will last until September 15.
