A potentially catastrophic fire in Sharjah’s Al Saja’a industrial zone was swiftly contained on Monday afternoon, thanks to the rapid intervention of Civil Defence teams. The blaze erupted at a facility storing flammable petrochemicals and fiberglass, igniting concerns due to the volatile nature of the materials.

Emergency crews were on the scene within minutes of the 3:40 PM alert, arriving by 3:48 PM. By 4:42 PM—just over an hour later—the fire was fully under control. Their prompt and coordinated action prevented the flames from spreading to neighboring structures, despite the intense heat and billowing smoke.

The incident affected two separate warehouses—one storing fiberglass products, the other housing diesel and various chemicals. While the fire posed a significant risk, authorities confirmed that there were no casualties, and nearby properties were safeguarded.

Officials emphasized the importance of swift reporting in emergencies, urging residents to dial 997 at the first sign of fire or danger.
