Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the first phase of upgrading marine transport stations in Dubai Marina, significantly improving comfort and smart service offerings.
Five stations—Marina Promenade, Marina Terrace, Marina Walk, Marina Mall, and Marina Mall 1—have been revamped with air-conditioned waiting areas, modern amenities such as free Wi-Fi, real-time schedule screens, and audio announcements. These facilities blend heritage-inspired architecture, modeled after traditional abras, with cutting-edge features, paying tribute to Dubai’s maritime heritage.
Khalaf Balghazooz Al Zarooni, Director of Marine Transport at RTA, stated that this initiative aims to raise customer satisfaction by making transport hubs more comfortable, accessible, and well-connected—supporting RTA’s sustainability goals and encouraging public transport over private cars.
The enhanced stations improve connectivity to key spots like Marina Mall, nearby residential areas, metro, and tram stations, promoting a smooth multimodal travel experience.
The design upgrades were guided by customer feedback and follow the Dubai Universal Design Code, ensuring full accessibility for People of Determination, with features like ramps, smooth pathways, and height-adjusted amenities.
Security upgrades include CCTV cameras and fire alarm systems, reinforcing passenger safety.
Phase Two will expand the initiative to five more stations, chosen for their rising usage and strategic value, following the same standards. Al Zarooni confirmed that this effort is central to RTA’s broader mission to modernize marine transport infrastructure across Dubai.
