In the scorching UAE summer, the temperature inside a parked car can soar by up to 30°C above the outside level—making it a fatal environment within minutes. Following a record-breaking 51.6°C in Al Ain this May, Abu Dhabi authorities are reinforcing warnings against leaving children unattended in vehicles. According to the Wadeema Law (Federal Law on Child Rights), doing so is a criminal act that can lead to jail time and fines. Article 35 of the law allows penalties of up to Dh5,000—or Dh10,000 and imprisonment in cases where a child’s life is endangered.
