As Muslims worldwide await the sacred festival of Eid al-Adha 2025, Saudi Arabia is set to sight the Zil-Hajj 1446 AH crescent moon today, May 27. The moon sighting will determine the exact date for Eid al-Adha celebrations.
The crescent has already been sighted in the UAE, while countries like Indonesia and Malaysia have announced their first day of Eid.
If the moon is confirmed in Saudi Arabia today, Arafat Day will be observed on June 5, 2025, with Eid al-Adha celebrations beginning on June 6 in Saudi Arabia and on June 7 in India.
If the crescent is not sighted, the Islamic month of Zil-Hajj will begin on May 29, shifting Arafat Day to June 6 and Eid al-Adha to June 7 in Saudi Arabia and June 8 in India.
Also known as Bakra Eid, Bakrid, Eid Qurban, or the Feast of Sacrifice, Eid al-Adha commemorates the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim’s son, symbolizing devotion and faith.
