As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen its digital economy, Singapore is significantly ramping up its artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives. The country is introducing 800 new AI training opportunities and launching up to 500 business projects, expected to benefit around 1,000 enterprises.

The national programme AI Singapore (AISG) will offer 400 of these training placements over the next three years, targeting both mid-career professionals new to AI and experienced practitioners. Another 400 slots will be provided by tech industry leaders such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Oracle, Microsoft, and Singtel.

This initiative aims to further grow Singapore’s current base of over 6,000 AI professionals, the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) announced at the ATxEnterprise 2025 conference, part of the larger Asia Tech x Singapore event series.

Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information Tan Kiat How, speaking at the conference’s opening at Singapore Expo on May 27, highlighted that the digital economy now contributes nearly 18% of Singapore’s GDP. He also emphasized the country’s continued ability to attract investment, with at least 26 AI Centres of Excellence established to date. These centers serve as key platforms for innovation, experimentation, training, and pilot testing in AI applications.
