Dubai: Dubai Police have deployed advanced AI-powered radar systems on key roads to catch a wide range of traffic violations with greater accuracy. These smart radars can detect speeding, running red lights, lane violations, distracted driving, not wearing seat belts, illegal window tinting, noisy vehicles, and expired vehicle registrations. With heavy fines, black points, and vehicle impoundments in place, drivers are strongly urged to follow updated traffic regulations to avoid penalties and boost road safety.
Types of Violations and Penalties:
Speeding
Over 80 km/h limit: Dh3,000 fine, 23 black points, 60-day impoundment
Over 60 km/h: Dh2,000, 12 black points, 30-day impoundment
Up to 50 km/h: Dh1,000 fine
Up to 40 km/h: Dh700 fine
Up to 30 km/h: Dh600 fine
Up to 20 km/h: Dh300 fine
Running Red Lights
Fine: Dh1,000, 12 black points, 30-day impoundment
To release: Dh50,000 (as per Decree No. 30 of 2023)
Lane Violations
Fine: Dh400
Detected behaviors: Driving on hard shoulder, crossing solid lines, sudden swerving, tailgating
Drivers are advised to follow the two-second rule for safe distances.
Distracted Driving (Phone Use)
Fine: Dh800, 4 black points
30-day vehicle impoundment
Seat Belt Violations
Fine: Dh400, 4 black points
The AI radar can differentiate between clothing and seat belts, even at night.
Illegal Window Tinting
Limit: 50% on side and rear windows; front windshield must remain clear

In Dubai: Vehicle can be impounded; release fee: Dh10,000
